Hal Willner, productor musical del programa Saturday Night Live, murió a los 64 años debido a complicaciones por el coronavirus.
El músico anuncio el pasado 28 de marzo que había sido diagnosticado con coronavirus, en el post incluyó un mapa con brotes de Covid-19 en Estados Unidos, marcando como foco rojo a la ciudad de Nueva York.
De acuerdo a información del portal Excelsior, Willner intentó compartir su situación hasta el último momento, siempre comparándola con algún elemento de la cultura pop.
El productor tuvo participación en los álbumes de Marianne Faithfull, (quien fue diagnosticada con Covid-19), Laurie Anderson, Lou Reed (incluido su último lanzamiento de estudio principal, "Ecstasy"), y Lucinda Williams.

Willner también fue el coordinador musical de la producción ejecutiva de Sunday Night, de Lorne Michael, presentada por David Sanborn durante dos temporadas en 1988-90, por NBC.
El productor también trabajo con Ringo Starr, Michael Stipe, Bonnie Raitt, Yma Sumac, Ken Nordine, Harry Nilsson, Tom Waits y Sun Ra.
